Learning & Guidance (SEN)


MISSION STATEMENT
The Christian Brothers' School Learning and Guidance Centres Mission is the provision of an educational experience, which will contribute to the enhancement of the individual pupils quality of life. The programme, acting with integrity and within the statutory requirements, will respond to the identified needs of the pupil. It values and requires commitment from a professional, informed and motivated work force.

MAIN AIMS OF THE LEARNING GUIDANCE CENTRE
To ensure that pupils with special educational needs are identified as early as possible and as quickly as is consistent with thoroughness. To ensure that appropriate provision is made for children with SEN. To produce clear, understandable and thorough reviews, at least annually. To encourage close co-operation with outside agencies. To provide professional support to pupils, teachers and others involved with the provision of SEN. To keep under review the present provision and to take any necessary steps to adjust, as appropriate, the educational provision for pupils with SEN. To encourage close co-operation with parents. To use resources effectively and efficiently in order to achieve the most appropriate provision for pupils with SEN within Christian Brothers' School. To create good quality learning conditions which meet statutory requirements. To encourage high-level achievements by pupils within their capabilities. To enable all staff to meet identified pupil needs and to keep up with developments in the area of SEN.
